I JUST WANTED TO ADDRESS THE ARTICLE THAT WAS IN THE LAST WEEK'S NEWSPAPER.
REGARDING THE RENTAL, I ALWAYS GET IT WRONG, RENTAL PROPERTY REGISTRATION AND INSPECTION PROGRAM. I FEEL THAT IT COULD CAUSE AN UNFAIR BURDEN ON PROPERTY OWNERS.
I FEEL THAT IF THERE ARE TWO PROPERTIES ADJACENT IN THE SAME ZONING, THEY SHOULD HAVE THE SAME RULES. I DON'T THINK A PROPERTY THAT'S GOT TENANTS SHOULD HAVE DIFFERENT RULES THAN THEIR NEIGHBOR WHO HAS THE WHO'S GOT THE OWNERS LIVING IN IT.
I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS AN ESTIMATE OF TWENTY SIX POINT SOMETHING HOMEOWNER RENTAL PROPERTIES IN ANGLETON.
I BELIEVE THAT NUMBER TO BE MUCH HIGHER.
I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND I FOUND A WEBSITE THAT ESTIMATED ANGLETON HOMEOWNERSHIP AT JUST OVER 50 PERCENT, WHICH WOULD PUT RENTAL PROPERTIES AROUND FORTY ONE, I BELIEVE, IS WHAT THE NUMBER I CAME UP WITH.
THAT'S A LOT. THAT'S ALMOST DOUBLE WHAT WAS REPORTED.
SO THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE AFFECTED.
I'D LIKE TO SEE IF WE'RE MOVING FORWARD OR CONSIDERING MOVING FORWARD.
I'D LIKE TO SEE A PUBLIC HEARING, POSSIBLY AN ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY, IF THAT'S EVEN APPLICABLE. WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF GRADY RANDLE LAW FIRM, THE COMMISSION MADE UP OF FIVE CITIZENS APPOINTED BY COUNCIL MET NINE TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS FROM JUNE TO JANUARY, TO REVIEW THE CURRENT CHARTER AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR POSSIBLE CHANGES.

AND THEN THE OTHER THING IS THAT THERE'S A LAW THAT SAYS ANY OF THE AMENDMENTS THAT AFFECT YOUR FISCAL YEAR, WHICH I DON'T WE DIDN'T REALLY DO THAT AS WE WENT THROUGH BECAUSE I DON'T THINK THERE'S ANYTHING.
BUT IF THERE'S ANY IMPACT ON YOUR FISCAL YEAR, WE HAVE TO PUT THAT IN THE BALLOT TOO.
