BUT I WANTED TO BRING SOME LIGHT ON THIS TO GET SOME ATTENTION ON IT.
I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM MARTHA EIGHME ON MAY 31ST, THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE CITY TO ISSUE A SURVEY TO THE RESIDENTS IN MY AREA TO SEE IF THEY WERE INTERESTED IN HAVING THOSE CONCERTS MOVED TO THAT VENUE.
I IMMEDIATELY STARTED GETTING EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS ABOUT UPSET PEOPLE THAT DON'T WANT THAT KIND OF NOISE AND CROWD AND ALL THE THINGS THAT GO ALONG WITH THOSE LARGER CONCERTS IN OUR AREA.
SOME OF THE HOMES IN OUR SUBDIVISION ARE LESS THAN 300 FEET FROM WHAT WOULD BE THE STAGE, THAT'S LESS THAN A FOOTBALL FIELD MINUS THE END ZONES; IT'S REALLY, REALLY CLOSE.
IT'S NOT FAR ENOUGH AWAY TO HAVE 36-INCH SPEAKERS, AMPLIFIERS, AND MIXING BOARDS FOR THREE AND FOUR-PIECE BANDS THAT ARE JUST REALLY LOUD.
IT'S A HEAVILY POPULATED AREA FOR THAT KIND OF ACTIVITY.
THE DISTANCE BETWEEN VETERANS PARK AND LAKESIDE PARK IS, ACCORDING TO GOOGLE, IS 1.27 MILES.
OCCASIONALLY, OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO HEAR NOISE FROM THE CONCERTS ON FRIDAY NIGHTS FROM VETERANS PARK AS IT IS NOW.
I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW LOUD IT WOULD BE THAT CLOSE TO OUR HOMES.
PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE MOST AFFECTED WOULD INCLUDE INFANTS, SMALL CHILDREN, AND ELDERLY, AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT TIME OF DAY OR WHAT DAY OF THE WEEK IT IS, THOSE PEOPLE WILL BE ASSAULTED BY THE SOUND BECAUSE THEY'RE SO CLOSE.
EXTREME NOISE FROM LIVE BANDS WOULD ALSO HAVE AN EFFECT ON FAMILY PETS AND LIVESTOCK THAT'S CLOSE IN THE AREA.
I'VE STARTED TALKING TO SOME OF THE NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES IN OUR AREA, AND WE DISCOVERED THAT ONE OF THE HOMEOWNERS THAT'S NEAR THE VETERANS PARK JUST WAS INCLUDED IN AN ARTICLE IN THE FAX, BECKY BRIANT, AND SHE TALKED WITH HER NEIGHBORS IN THAT AREA, AND THEY COLLECTIVELY CITED THAT THERE'S TRASH ALL OVER THE NEIGHBORHOODS, DRIVEWAYS AND YARDS ARE BEING BLOCKED BY CARS, THERE'S EXCESSIVE NOISE, AND THE ONE THING THAT REALLY STUCK OUT TO ME WAS INTOXICATED CONCERTGOERS WALKING THROUGH THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS.
I ALSO RECEIVED A LETTER WHEN WE COLLECTED PETITIONS FROM BRECK KOELEMAY, WHO'S THE HEAD OF THE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, AND HE'S QUITE CONCERNED ABOUT IT AS WELL.
THEY DON'T WANT PARKING ON THEIR GROUNDS BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE THAT IT COULD CAUSE PEOPLE PARKING IN THE GRASS AND OTHER AREAS FROM THE CONCERTGOERS TEARING UP THEIR ACTIVITY AREAS.
THEY'RE CONCERNED ABOUT TRASH BEING LEFT BY THE CONCERTGOERS,

AS WELL AS THE STRESS IT WOULD CAUSE TO THE RESIDENTS IN THE AREA.ANOTHER CONCERN OUR COMMUNITIES HARBOR IS EVEN MORE CONCERT AND LARGE CROWD EVENTS BEING ADDED TO LAKESIDE PARK AT A LATER TIME.
THIS WILL JUST FURTHER ERODE THE EROSION OF PEACE AND QUIET THE CITIZENS OF ANGLETON HAVE A RIGHT TO IN THEIR OWN HOMES.
LAKESIDE PARK IS NOT SUITED FOR A LARGE VENUE CONCERT LIKE FREE CONCERTS IN THE PARK.
ON BEHALF OF HERITAGE COURT, HERITAGE OAKS, AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES, I URGE YOU TO DEFINE OR PURSUE ANOTHER LOCATION FOR THESE LARGE EVENTS BECAUSE THIS HEAVILY POPULATED AREA THAT WE LIVE IN IS JUST TOO SMALL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

SOME RESIDENTS NEAR VETERANS PARK ARE ABOUT 400 FEET FROM THE STAGE AND THE STAGES FACING THEIR HOMES.
THERE'S ALSO A RESIDENT NEXT DOOR TO THE BRIDGE CHURCH ON MAGNOLIA STREET THAT'S ABOUT 158 FEET FROM VETERANS PARK.
THE RESIDENTS ARE TIRED OF IT.
OUR NEIGHBORHOOD CONSISTS OF A MIXTURE OF ELDERLY PEOPLE, MIDDLE-AGED INDIVIDUALS, YOUNG FAMILIES WITH NEWBORNS, AND YOUNG CHILDREN, AND YOUNG ADULTS.
I HAD RECENTLY HEARD THAT THE CITY WAS CONSIDERING MOVING THE CONCERTS TO LAKESIDE PARK.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT WE DO NOT WANT TO PIT NEIGHBORHOODS AGAINST EACH OTHER.
BOTH THE NEIGHBORHOODS CLOSE TO VETERANS PARK AND THOSE NEAR LAKESIDE PARK AGREE THAT WE DO NOT WANT THE CONCERTS IN OUR BACKYARDS, WE DO NOT WANT THEM IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS.

WITH STATION 8, JUST TWO YEARS AGO, WE'VE PREVIOUSLY DONE A SECTION OF SANITARY SEWER REPAIR WHERE THE SIDEWALK WAS TWISTING AND FALLING IN NEAR THE PIPE MATERIAL, TRUST PIPE, OVER THERE ON DOWNING.
THIS PROJECT, WHAT WE'VE IDENTIFIED AS CONTINUING ON, REPLACING THAT TYPE OF MATERIAL THAT'S THERE ALONG THE MAJOR COLLECTOR DOWN DOWNING, AND ALSO, WE'RE TRYING TO IDENTIFY LOCATIONS WHERE THERE'S A HIGH PROBABILITY OF MASSIVE IONIDE DUE TO THE AMOUNTS OF IONIDE THAT COMES INTO LIFT STATION 8.
YOU HAVE TWO SYSTEMS ON THERE.
YOU HAVE A SYSTEM FOR ABNORMAL DAY WORKING, AND THEN WHENEVER YOU HAVE A RAIN, YOU HAVE WHAT THEY CALL STORM PUMPS, WHICH IS A SECOND SYSTEM THAT IS MUCH BIGGER, THAT PUMPS AGAIN BACK TO THE PLANT, THAT ADDITIONAL WATER.

THERE HAS TO BE A HOLE SOMEWHERE NEAR ONE OF THESE DITCHES, IS WHAT WE BELIEVE IS WHAT'S HAPPENING WHERE YOU'RE GETTING A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF IONIDE, AND THE LENGTH THAT THAT STATION RUNS AFTER A RAIN EVENT.
YOU CAN SEE ON THE ATTACHMENT, THE AREAS THAT WE'VE IDENTIFIED AGAIN, THEY'RE THE MAIN CORRIDORS, THE ARTERIES TO THE STATION 8, DOWN ALDERS, DOWN DOWNING.
THE OTHER LOCATIONS ARE AREAS THAT WE KNOW HAVE A POTENTIAL OF IONIDE, IT'S DOWN HENDERSON RIGHT NEXT TO THE GIANT DITCH.
WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND MAKE THAT REPAIR.
ALSO IN RANCHO, AND SOME OF THOSE BACKYARDS, THERE'S BEEN SINKHOLES IN THE PAST.
THERE'S BEEN REPAIRS IN THE PAST DUE TO THE TYPE OF PIPES, THERE WAS A [INAUDIBLE] THAT THEY CALL TRUST PIPE.
IT WAS A GOOD IDEA WITH WHAT THEY HAD AND IT WAS THE BEST OPTION AVAILABLE, BUT IT'S HIT ITS LIFE LIFESPAN.
THE OTHER ONE, OFF BY ITSELF A LITTLE BIT OR NEXT TO DITCHES AGAIN, WHERE WE BELIEVE THERE'S SOME HIGH PROBABILITY OF IONIDE COMING IN THERE BASED OFF OF THE AMOUNT OF WATER THAT'S COMING IN THOSE LIST STATIONS.

THE STATE ALLOWS EACH LOCAL JURISDICTION TO DESIGNATE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION FOR THEIR CITIZENS.
LAST YEAR, AS PART OF THE PROCESS, WE WENT TO A 3% EXEMPTION.
