DO I HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE ANGLETON CHAMBER AND GINA ADAMS FROM THE HISPANIC CHAMBER? OFFICE OF THE MAYOR, CITY OF ANGLETON TEXAS PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS THE GOVERNMENT OF ANGLETON, TEXAS CELEBRATES OUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES AND THE CONTRIBUTIONS THEY MAKE TO OUR ECONOMY AND COMMUNITY, AND WHEREAS AMERICAN EXPRESS INTRODUCED THE SATURDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING AS SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY IN 2010 TO SUPPORT BUSINESSES FACING CHALLENGES DURING THE ECONOMIC RECESSION, AND BY 2012, ADVOCACY GROUPS AND PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS IN ALL 50 STATES JOINED IN ENDORSING THIS INITIATIVE, WHICH HAS CONTINUED TO THRIVE EACH YEAR SINCE.

WHEREAS THE EVENT WAS CREATED TO ENCOURAGE CONSUMERS TO SHOP AT LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES SUPPORTING THE BACKBONE OF THE ECONOMY, AND HAS GROWN INTO A SIGNIFICANT SHOPPING TRADITION THAT PROMOTES COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND SUPPORT FOR SMALL ENTERPRISES.

WHEREAS THE CITY OF ANGLETON SUPPORTS OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES THAT CREATE JOBS, BOOST OUR LOCAL ECONOMY AND PRESERVE OUR COMMUNITIES, AND URGES THE RESIDENTS OF OUR COMMUNITY AND COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES AND MERCHANTS ON SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY AND THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

SO YOU'LL SEE A NUMBER OF THE DETAILS IN YOUR PACKET.

BUT I DID WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THEY ANTICIPATE BRINGING A COUPLE THOUSAND PEOPLE THROUGH THAT PARK OVER THE TWO DAYS.

SO I CAN TELL YOU, IN PREPARATION FOR THAT, AS WE GO THROUGH THAT ANGLETON SOCCER CLUB HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN GETTING THOSE FIELDS READY FOR THAT, AS WELL AS OUR PARKS DEPARTMENTS TO PREPARE FOR THAT TOURNAMENT.

AS YOU KNOW, HISTORICALLY, WE'VE CONTRIBUTED TO THE MEDICAL AND DENTAL PLANS.

WE ALSO PURCHASED A PURCHASE A $25,000 LIFE INSURANCE POLICY FOR THE EMPLOYEES.

YOU DO NOT CONTRIBUTE TO VISION OR ANY OTHER ANCILLARY PRODUCT EXCEPT THE HSA.

IF YOU ARE ENROLLED IN THE HIGH DEDUCTIBLE HEALTH PLAN.

WE'RE UNDER A ONE YEAR AGREEMENT WITH BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD.

AND OUR BROKER LOCKTON, WHO IS HERE REPRESENTED TONIGHT BY ROGER VAN SICKLE, AND THEY WENT OUT AND AETNA AND UHC DECLINED TO BID. CIGNA CAME IN AT 40% HIGHER THAN WE ARE AT NOW.

THIS LIST OF PROJECTS IS ESSENTIALLY WHAT WAS LEFT OVER AFTER WE SELECTED TEXIAN TRAIL A YEAR AND A HALF AGO.

YOU KNOW, WORKING WITH HDR, WE UPDATED THE COST OF ALL THESE AND I WOULD SAY ARGUABLY THE TWO WORST ONES AT THIS POINT.

AS YOU KNOW, THERE HAS BEEN SOME MORE DETERIORATION ALONG WITH THEM. OBVIOUSLY, YOU KNOW, AS TIME GOES ON, IT DOESN'T GET BETTER. IT GETS WORSE. I WOULD SAY THAT, YOU KNOW, MEADOWVIEW LANE AND RAYBURN RIDGE ARE IN MOST NEED OF IT AS RAYBURN RIDGE IS.

AND BETWEEN THAT AND THE SWEEPER, THE SWEEPER WAS A SIMPLER ISSUE.

WE HAD TO GET BROOMS REPLACED. BUT THERE WAS ALSO A HYDRAULIC ISSUE THAT NEEDED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. AND THAT'S THE COST FOR THAT.

BUT WITH OUR CURRENT BUDGET THAT WE HAVE, OR JUST THE BUDGET WE HAVE FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR THERE'S ONLY $42,000 IN THERE FOR REPAIRS.

AND WE'VE ALREADY EXPENDED I BELIEVE, 12,000 OUT OF THAT OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES.

SO WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO FIX ALL THREE OF THEM.

SO AND MY PERSONAL OPINION BEING THAT THE BACKHOE HAS BEEN DOWN THIS WHOLE TIME ALREADY, WE'VE DONE WITHOUT IT.
